Eurasian intermodal services introduced
Far East Land Bridge (Felb), part of Russian Railways, has launched a new container train from Hamburg (Germany) to Beijing (China) via St. Petersburg (Russia). The first test train arrived at the China terminal in Beijing on 11 December 2021.
The train carrying 45 containers had started on 25 November after the goods had left Hamburg by ship on 16 November. The service between Europe and China will be offered regularly from 2022. A connection on the southern route through Kazakhstan will be introduced in January as well, Felb said.
The new train will launch with the transport of goods from the ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg, Duisburg and Gdansk/Gdynia by ship to St. Petersburg. From there, the cargo is transported by rail to Beijing. (ben)
