ETF rejects EU study on drivers’ rest
The European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) has strongly criticised a recent EU-funded study proposing that drivers be allowed to take regular rest periods in vehicle cabins when parked in Safe and Secure Parking Areas (SSPAs).
ETF argues that the recommendations undermine driver welfare and contradict existing mobility package provisions aimed at improving working conditions.
“Drivers’ living and working conditions are a sham for Europe,” according to ETF. The federation noted that the study lacks union input and fails to address infrastructure gaps. ETF has called on the European Commission to reaffirm its commitment to the mobility package. (js)
