Estonian railway to be electrified

A joint venture between the Spanish engineering companies Ardanuy and Ayesa has been awarded a project to electrify the Estonian rail network. The undertaking is managed by the Estonian railway authority, Esti Raudtee (EVR).

The companies will elaborate a preliminary design of the works, including over 500 km of track connections, as part of a modernisation initiative.

Furthermore, the Estonian rail network is part of the EU’s Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The works being carried out by Ardanuy and Ayesa will modernise network connections, design an electrification solution based on an operating voltage of 25kVac, and encompass lines of more than 500 km.
