Estonian carrier starts operation in Finland
Operail has completed its first ever commercial freight train journey in Finland. The Estonian carrier will be the main railway operator for the Finish shipping agency Rauanheimo to transport dry bulk.
Operail will be providing railway-hauling services for Rauanheimo from the Finish-Russian boarder station Vainikkala to the Finish port of Koverhar in Hanko.
Rauanheimo sees substantial volumes for dry bulk transported by rail on the Vainikkala-Koverhar route and in the long term a growing need for rail transport in the whole country, both in terms of domestic loads and transit.
“We are very pleased about this cooperation. Finland is at a long distance from the real world market and it is extremely important to strengthen logistics,” Rauanheimo quoted. (ben)
