Estonia: From wagon repairs to engine building
The supervisory board of Estonia-based Operail has approved the management board’s proposal for restructuring the Tapa depot. As a result, Operail will be able to allocate more resources towards locomotive construction.
The wagon repair services at the Tapa depot have not been profitable in recent years because they depend to a great extent on the market situation in neighbouring countries, according to Operail.
The same volume of other services will continue to be provided at the Tapa depot. Wagon wheel set inspections and fabrication will continue, and the company will also continue repairs at its service points. (ben)
