Espo chair visits Rijeka Gateway
On 15 November, 2023, the Rijeka Gateway (Croatia) welcomed Zeno D’Agostino, chair of the European Sea Ports Organisation (Espo). The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the ambitious plans for the new state-of-the-art, remote-controlled container terminal in Rijeka.
D’Agostino expressed his admiration for the port's recent infrastructural growth and the upcoming Rijeka Gateway terminal. The new terminal, described as the first in the Adriatic to employ remote-controlled, electric container cranes, aligns with Rijeka Gateway's commitment to sustainability and carbon footprint reduction.
The project, which represents the largest investment in the port’s history, is expected to create over 300 jobs and commence operations in 2025. (pb)
