Enercon augments fleet with Goldhofer vehicles

Enercon, a German wind turbine manufacturer, has added six Goldhofer Ventum flatbed semitrailers with pendular axles to its heavy-duty vehicle fleet. The units are able to transport extremely long rotor blades measuring over 70 m.

Enercon’s managing director, Hans-Dieter Kettwig, stated: “Transporting such lengthy rotor blades reliably and delivering them just in time is a challenge that we can now master.”

The MD added: “There is an increasing trend towards building wind farms with longer rotor blades. The gigantic blades are used above all on sites with low wind speeds and also for refurbishing and upgrading existing wind power plants where there is sufficient hub height." (mw)
