EMSA on ship calls during the pandemic
The ports of Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia and Spain are statistically the ones that have suffered the most from the decrease in the number of ship calls throughout the European Union, Norway, Iceland and the United Kingdom since the end of July due to the pandemic.
According to the report (data until mid-October) of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) on the impact of the coronavirus crisis in the maritime transport sector, ship calls in European ports fell by an average of 8%.
Between January and mid-October, in traffic from Europe to China, there was a significant decrease of 52.1% and of 35.9% from China to Europe. In transatlantic traffic, traffic from Europe to the USA fell by 30.9%, while from the USA to Europe the decrease was 39.8%. (cd)
