Emirates to add cargo capacity to Cairo
Launched in April 1986, Emirates' current thrice-daily service between Dubai and Cairo will be augmented by four additional flights when the timetable changes on 28 October 2019.
The four new flights, which will be operated by a B777-300ER like the current services, will take the total number of weekly Emirates flights serving the Egyptian capital to 25.
In calendar year 2018, Emirates Skycargo transported over 35,750 t of cargo including exports of almost 19,750 t and imports of 16,000 t. Close to 90% of the commodities exported from Cairo are fruit and vegetables.
The flight increase will result in an additional 160 t of cargo capacity per week to and from Cairo, in addition to the more than 800 t of cargo capacity already provided on Emirates’ flights. (ah)
