Electric deliveries in Munich
A new city logistics concept is taking hold in Munich. Dachser will deliver its general cargo consignments with electric trucks in future. As from September 2022, companies and private recipients have been supplied exclusively by a fully electric 7.5 t Fuso e-Canter truck. Two more of these vehicles are expected to be added at the beginning of 2023.
A total emission-free delivery zone of around 1.6 sqkm will be created in the area including busy streets around Sendlinger Tor, Stachus, Odeonsplatz, Theresienstrasse and Maximilianstrasse. "The proximity of Dachser's Munich branch to the city centre is the prerequisite for operating fully electric trucks," says Ingo Zimmermann, freight forwarding manager at the Munich location.
Dachser's city logistics concept includes battery-electric vans and trucks as well as electrically assisted cargo bikes. In addition, Dachser will push ahead with the development and testing of trucks with hydrogen fuel cell technology as part of pilot projects. (sh)
