Elbers for Lineas
Belgian railways operator Lineas has appointed Martijn Elbers as head of sales intermodal. Elbers, who was voted Rail Cargo Information Netherlands' railway man of the year in 2019, joins from Shuttlewise, the company he co-founded in 2008.
As managing director of Shuttlewise, he has built up a network of intermodal services over the past ten years. Previously, he worked at Intermodal Solutions in Rotterdam and at Vos Logistics.
As Lineas said in a press release, he will now focus on "developing a structure that better meets the needs of the Belgian railfreight specialist’s intermodal customers."
Lineas is optimistic about its future, as its CEO Geert Pauwels commented: "Intermodal transport has the wind in its sails. Companies are constantly looking at ways to reduce the cost of freight transport and, at the same time, measures to reduce their carbon footprint are gaining importance. (cd)
