e-van becomes moving solar power unit
Electric utility vehicle manufacturer Tropos is testing integrated solar power facilities in its vehicle box bodies. Thanks to this forward-looking technology, it should soon be possible for operators to use the Tropos ABLE models regardless of whether they have any contact with external sources of electricity; this will also significantly increase the vehicles' range, the Germany-based company said.
The pilot project begins at the end of June and will initially continue for four months. The innovative technology breaks new ground in that it can replace existing structural elements by solar panels and thus fully integrates them into the bodywork without increasing the weight. (ben)
