E-Actros 600 in winter service test
Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and the state-owned company Autobahn jointly tested the battery-electric eActros 600 in demanding winter service in Germany. Autobahn used a prototype of the electric truck pulling a semitrailer on a section of the A2 highway between Hamm and Bielefeld.
As a preventive measure against ice, the company used a brine made of water and salt as an eco-friendlier alternative to conventional road salt. The semitrailer can spread brine at a speed of 80 km/h up to a width of 12 m. The trials showed that electric trucks can be used for this purpose in winter service, Daimler said. (ben)
