Dutch inland shipper changes hands
Honkoop Barging, a Dutch provider of inland shipping services in the Benelux region, has sold all its assets to Contargo with effect from 1 January 2023. The management and staff of the inland shipping company and its freight contracts and customer contacts will be transferred to the new owner.
Marcel Hulsker, co-managing director of Contargo: "This acquisition offers us an interesting opportunity to expand our service portfolio, particularly in the Rotterdam area, Antwerp, the province of Zeeland and Ghent."
The offer includes traffic within the port of Rotterdam, traffic between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp as well as numerous additional daily container liner services that also extend to Ghent, Vlissingen and Terneuzen. Following the acquisition, Honkoop Barging's activities will be integrated into the existing inland shipping activities in the Benelux countries under the brand name Contargo Transbox.
Henri Honkoop, currently managing director of Honkoop Barging, will take over the management of Contargo Transbox in Belgium and share the responsibility for Contargo Transbox in the Netherlands with Carsten Borchers within Contargo. (sh)
