Drydocks World's LNG vessel conversion

Drydocks World, a DP World subsidiary, has successfully converted two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vessels, the ‘Tango Floating Liquefied Natural Gas’ (FLNG) and ‘Excalibur Floating Storage Unit’ (FSU), to enhance LNG production off the coast of the Republic of Congo.

The conversion is part of Eni's Congo LNG project, representing a world-first collaboration between Drydocks World, Exmar, and Eni.

The project involved joining the vessels through a 'spread mooring' system, patented by Exmar, to facilitate LNG gathering, liquefaction, storage, and offloading off the coast of the Republic of the Congo.

The conversion, including the addition of twelve steel mooring foundation structures, was completed in five months with zero lost time incidents (LTI). Drydocks World pre-rigged the offshore mooring chains in its Mina Rashid shipyard, which helped to save time. (pb)
