Driving digitalisation of transport in Asia
Efforts to maintain the integrity of supply chains while limiting physical contact among transport workers and border agencies during the pandemic have already led to increased digitalisation in transport.
Now, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation transport ministries together with customs administrations, national TIR and road transport associations and the International Road Union (IRU) are demanding a further digitalisation of commercial transport and customs documentation in Asia.
The call for action is aimed at national governments and international organisations. The recommendations also cover to establish green lanes for commercial vehicles, facilitate visa procedures and work towards the harmonisation of weights and dimensions regulations. (ben)
