DP World moving up steadily
DP World saw its throughput rising in Q1/2022. The operator handled a total of 19.3 million teu worldwide, with gross container volumes increasing by 1.7% year-on-year on a reported basis and up 1.9% on a like-for-like basis.
Notably the terminals in the ports of Qingdao (China), Sokhna (Egypt), London Gateway (UK), Yarimca (Turkey), Dakar (Senegal), Caucedo (Dominican Republic), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Posorja (Ecuador) delivered a strong performance. The flagship Jebel Ali (UAE) handled 3.4 million teu in 1Q1/2022, down 1% year-on-year.
Group chairman and chief executive officer Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem pointed out that the global network now comprises 190 business units in 69 countries, while the staff now numbers 71,255 employees from 150 nationalities. (sh)
