The port of Santos, one of Brazil's largest and most modern ports, has revealed plans to expand and modernise its facilities. A terminal that already covers 845,000 sqm is set to be expanded by another 130,000 sqm.
Moreover, the Dubai-based Emirati company DP World, which operates the terminal, wants to increase the length of the quay from 1,100 to 1,300 m, which will enable it to move more boxes, namely 1.4 million teu, up from 1.2 million.
To achieve this, DP World plans to invest USD 35 million in 2023. DP World Santos CEO Fabio Siccherino says that investing in the terminal will help to place more products Brazilian in international markets in a more competitive way. (lh)
