Dover-Calais partnership to cut freight times
P&O Ferries and Irish Ferries have officially launched their ‘turn-up and go’ space charter agreement on the Dover-Calais route, after successful trials this summer. This new partnership makes freight handling more efficient by ensuring ships that are fully loaded at peak times, reducing port clearance times by up to 25%.
The service operates on a first-come, first-served basis, providing more flexibility for freight customers. The agreement also promotes environmental sustainability by utilising P&O's modern fleet, including two hybrid vessels use 40% less fuel, thereby lowering the route’s carbon footprint. (pb)
