Door-to-door shipment tracking
Hapag-Lloyd has introduced "Live Position," its inaugural dry container tracking product, marking the first use of internet of things (IoT) technology for real-time logistics tracking on a large scale. This tool provides end-to-end visibility of shipments, enhancing transparency from start to finish of a journey.
Over two-thirds of Hapag-Lloyd's dry container fleet are equipped with tracking devices, with further installations planned. The product aims to streamline fleet management, aid real-time decision-making, and mitigate risks for customers.
"Live Position" features an intuitive interface, offering easy searches by container, booking number, or batch. The company is also developing additional functionalities, including integration of tracking data into customer systems via API and an estimated time of arrival (ETA) prediction feature, to further enhance the product.
