DIY store in the border triangle
Hornbach Baumarkt has taken out a lease on the Panattoni Park Freiburg Süd in Neuenburg am Rhein just as construction is getting underway. The German family-run company operates DIY and garden centres in Germany and other countries in Europe.
Hombach will use the Neuenburg am Rhein site as a logistics centre to supply primarily Swiss DIY and garden centres as well as end customers. For this purpose, the company is moving into a total usable area of around 13,900 sqm.
As part of the project, Panattoni revitalised an approximately 23,800 sqm brownfield site that was used as a hazardous materials warehouse in the 1980s. The property is located in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland. The construction phase began at the beginning of June. Panattoni is planning to hand over the new estate to Hornbach on 1 February 2023. (sh)
