Direct train for Rhine port and Belgian sea ports
In April, the Birsterminal will send off the first direct train from the Birsfelden Rhine port in Switzerland to the terminals in the Belgian seaports.
The "Tango Rail Line" will operate regular rail services between the Rhine port and the Antwerp and Zeebrücke terminals via Athus (Luxembourg) and without stopping at a hub in the sea port. The purpose of this shuttle is to offer customers an alternative to counteract unpredictable waiting times and interruptions in the supply chains.
Athus is a hub for the inland regions of Saar/Lorraine/Luxembourg, while Birsfelden provides connections to and through Switzerland. (ben)
