Direct train boosts logistics in the Balkans
ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its network with a new direct connection between Serbia and Croatia, which will link two major hubs in the railfreight network, the rail company said.
The new train runs between the Nelt container terminal near Belgrade and the Adriatic Gate container terminal (AGCT) in Rijeka, where around 70% of freight traffic to and from Serbia is handled via the port.
The Belgrade-Rijeka train is run by RCG as an owner-operated service with one to two roundtrips per week and a transit time of up to 24 hours. It carries 20-, 40- and 45-foot containers for intermodal goods flows. (ben)
