Dimotrans sees crystal clear

The Lyon-headquartered Dimotrans Group recently acquired 85% of the capital of Crystal, a provider of intermodal services specialising in the air and maritime overseas segments.

Four of Crystal Group's historical partners keep the remaining 15% of the capital. They will develop overseas transports and customs services within Dimotrans.

Salvatore Alaimo, chairman of Dimotrans, and Joël Glusman, chairman of Crystal Group, aim at "becoming France's  alternative to large international transport and logistics groups."

The merger will combine the companies' capacities in commissioning, road haulage, logistics and e-commerce and consolidate overseas and customs services. With a workforce of 360 employees, Crystal generated a turnover of EUR 101.4 million in 2020. Dimotrans group employs 1,520 people and reported a turnover of EUR 396 million in the same year.

In addition of diversification and external growth, Dimotrans' Alaimo "is studying other targets in 2021-2022, either to complete a national network, for example in Bretagne, or to strengthen [our] market share in logistics or national courier services."

The group's objective for 2028, he adds, is to reach the threshold "between EUR 800 million and 1 billion in turnover." (sh)
