Digital tool to ease Brexit difficulties

Ferry operator P&O Ferries has launched a new digital product to assist freight customers in dealing with Brexit complexities.

The digital ‘travel wallet’ provides a possible answer to the next set of border requirements for cargo movements from Europe to UK, introduced on 1 January 2022. The newly developed application helps hauliers to navigate the pre-journey process and to make check-in procedures at the ports as simple as possible for all their drivers.

The ‘travel wallet’, offered free of charge, can help customers to identify which documents are required for each movement based on the route and the cargo being shipped.

Customers can also use it to verify the documents and then save the digital paperwork in the tool, generating one barcode that can be used by drivers at check-in, removing any language barriers and allowing drivers simply to scan and go.

P&O Ferries estimates that the innovative new tool could reduce check-in times at ports by up to 50%. (sh)
