Digital container release processes in German ports
Registration for the new digital container release process at Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven is now open on their dedicated portal. Developed by Dakosy and DBH in cooperation with the port industry, the system replaces PIN codes with secure ‘digital authorisation for pick-up’. This ensures full traceability of containers until they’re handed over to the transport company.
The new process, which is compulsory from 1 October 2025, aims to curb drug smuggling and streamline operations. Early registration and testing are recommended to ensure technical readiness. Companies can connect via PCS platforms or a German ports portal. An online briefing session is scheduled for 24 April. (ah)
