Digital advances to improve port efficiency

The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) is enhancing its operations with new digital solutions. The Philippine trade gateway transitioned to 100% digital payments through the advance customer transaction system to improve safety and efficiency during the pandemic.

The ICTSI support services assistant (ISSA) now offers 24/7 chat support for instant responses to inquiries. The terminal appointment booking system (Tabs) allows trucking companies to schedule container pick-ups and drop-offs, optimising cargo movement and reducing traffic congestion.

The terminal has also introduced ‘truck manifesting’ to streamline the gate process for truck drivers and the Kalakbay rewards loyalty programme to incentivise efficient transactions. The ICTSI app provides real-time cargo information, aiding logistics planning. These initiatives aim to improve customer service and streamline operations, thus making local supply chains more efficient and competitive. (pb)
