DHL Express at Asia's crossroads

DHL Express has opened its expanded Central Asia Hub (CAH) in Hong Kong. DHL Express has invested EUR 562 million in the facility since it was founded in 2004. It now handles almost 20% of the company’s global shipment volume, a six-fold increase since 2004.

Air freight demand and the strategic location make the Asian market particularly attractive. CAH connects 900 DHL Express facilities in the region, and, with direct air and landside access, it is the only dedicated express freight facility at Hong Kong airport.

The warehouse space will now be expanded by 50% to almost 50,000 sqm. Sustainability has also been taken into account, with 3,450 solar modules having been installed on the roof of the CAH. The hub uses a battery storage system for surplus electricity. (mk)
