Deutsche Bahn to test Russian flat cars
The Tikhvin freight car building plant, a member of the UWC Group, has sent a batch of Sggrs80 articulated flat cars produced for Deutsche Bahn for testing. The cars, which are designed to transport heavyweight containers, were produced under a contract for the supply of 160 freight cars concluded between the research and production corporation United Wagon Company, a Russian producer of freight cars, and the railway operator and infrastructure owner Deutsche Bahn.
The flat cars will undergo stationary testing and trial runs over a period of several months, with a particular focus on longitudinal and vertical stress tests on the frame structure. The trials will also assess both empty and loaded cars for shock absorption, measure the performance of the brake systems and evaluate the cars’ safety and stability on winding routes. (ah)
