Designwerk tracks energy use
The Swiss e-truck manufacturer Designwerk has released consumption data from 239 customer vehicles. While electric trucks with light cargo can achieve values as low as 90 kWh/100 km under ideal conditions, specialised applications such as sewer cleaning or snow removal can require up to 380 kWh/100 km, due to auxiliary equipment.
Long-haul operations show average values around 130 kWh/100 km, with top-performing units covering over 186,000 km per year. In 2024, Designwerk’s fleet travelled 8.8 million km, saving nearly 10,000 t of CO₂ compared to diesel equivalents.
“Designwerk's electric trucks therefore make a significant contribution to decarbonising the transport sector,” the company stated. (js)
