Dematic testing new automation system
Dematic is presenting a fully automated parcel handling solution named Dematic Pack My Ride. The subsystem is currently being tested in one of DPD’s newest distribution centres in Nagold, south of Stuttgart (Germany).
Pack My Ride picks up parcels from the existing intralogistics system and transports them with a stacker crane to mobile shelving units. These have been specially designed so that automated guided vehicles (AGVs) can autonomously transport the shelving systems and place them in a delivery vehicle.
This modus operandi spares a driver hard physical work and reduces truck loading time, which, in turn, increases the added value. (mw)
