Dematic automates Israel's national library
Intralogistics specialist Dematic is installing an automatic small parts store in Israel's new national library in Jerusalem. The Dematic solution ensures that the "source of knowledge" will not dry up in the future. The new store will supply users of the library with the books they have ordered.
Israel's national library contains around 5.5 million books, including the world's largest collections of Hebrew books and Judaic literature and about 1,000 archive collections from estates of eminent personalities.
Around 4 million of these items will be kept in the 50,000 containers of the store. Another special feature will be that visitors will be able to watch the facility at work from a panorama window.
The new national library is expected to be completed by October this year. From that date, Dematic's automated facility will optimise the library's storage and order processes. (mw)
