DB Schenker opens major hub
DB Schenker has opened its largest overland transport facility in Germany, in Neunkirchen in the Saarland. It covers 76,000 m² and includes 119 gates and a 10,500 m² terminal, serving as a logistics hub for southwestern Germany, France and other European countries.
As DB Schenker reports, the site improves lead times and streamlines operations for groupage, part and full loads. Yard management ensures efficient handling, while a photovoltaic system and e-charging infrastructure support sustainability.
With direct links to 15 destinations in France and the Benelux region, the site strengthens DB Schenker’s European overland network and enhances services for sectors such as automotive and wine logistics, according to Martin Rust, the managing director of DB Schenker in the Saarland. (js)
