Daily freight trains to Apapa port terminal
The rail corridor between Lagos and Ibad in Nigeria has extended its standard gauge rail line from one to three. It is directly connected with the APM Terminal at Apapa port, which is the only container terminal in Nigeria with on-site rail connectivity. The hub offers a multi-modal access to the terminal via rail, road, and barge.
The first freight train on the extended corridor was recently flagged off by the Nigerian government. It is planned to operate one freight train with 90 containers per day on this route.
APM Terminals Apapa already restored the rail in the port back in 2013, enabling customers to dispatch containers from Apapa port to Kano and Kaduna via narrow gauge rail. (ben)
