Dachser gearing up for Chinese New Year
Anyone doing business in Asia should be well into planning how trade will continue during the Chinese New Year (CNY) when virtually all businesses in China, including factories, close down for one to four weeks. This year CNY begins on 5 February.
All suppliers start to wind down operations one to two weeks in advance of the holiday and mass production ceases far earlier than many buyers anticipate.
Guido Gries, MD Dachser Americas: “This time of year presents many challenges for importers and exporters. International transport modes are still working and cargo is still moving, but planning the shipments requires a strategy that commences months earlier so that freight is handled seamlessly.
We review the steps that are needed to prepare for CNY with our customers well in advance. This helps ensure little to no interruption in their global supply chain.” (mw)
