Czech carrier adds Balkan services

Czech carrier CD Cargo has begun transporting containers between the Croatian port of Rijeka and Belgrade in Serbia. The new service includes four pairs of trains per week and is operated specially for Maersk. The containers are carried in CD Cargo wagons and for the time being, the rail company provides them commercially.

The first transports were carried out by CD Cargo Adria, a 100% subsidiary of CD Cargo. The process to obtain the licence to operate rail transport in Croatia is proceeding according to schedule, the company said. CD Cargo already holds Part A of the licence. The carrier expects to start deploying its own locomotives in May 2022 at the latest. (ben)
