Cyprus Shipping Chamber elects DG

The directors of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber have appointed its deputy director general / marine manager Alexandros Josephides as the body’s next director general. Josephides will succeed Thomas A. Kazakos, who is taking over as secretary-general of the London-based International Chamber of Shipping on 1 April.

Josephides, who started his career as a mechanical engineer in 1986 and previously worked for different companies in the USA, Cyprus and Libya, completed 30 productive years of service with the Cypriot chamber this year. In 1992 he joined the Cyprus Bureau of Shipping, where he was trained and worked as a marine surveyor.

In 2015 he was appointed the IMO’s ‘Goodwill Maritime Ambassador’ for Cyprus, tasked with promoting maritime and seafaring professions to younger generations, a position he still holds today. (cj)
