Crossing borders in hours instead of days
Huawei has turned to the global transit system TIR to meet growing customer demand, notably for e-commerce, in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf cooperation council (GCC) region.
With TIR, the vehicle manufacturer can substantially reduce waiting times at border crossings. Huawei’s TIR trucks are now crossing Saudi Arabia’s Batha border in less than three hours. Under regular operations customs clearing took multiple days, the company said.
TIR is operational across the GCC, cutting transport times between Jordan and UAE via Saudi Arabia by 50%, by over 70% between Oman and Saudi Arabia, and by over 90% between Saudi Arabia and UAE, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) said. (ben)
