CPKC sells Panama railway

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and the Lanco Group/Mi-Jack have sold the Panama Canal Railway Company (PCRC) to APM Terminals, a part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk conglomerate.

PCRC, a 50/50 joint venture since 1998, provides ocean-to-ocean freight and passenger services across the Panama Canal. In 2024, PCRC generated USD 77 million in revenue and USD 36 million in ebitda.

The 47-mile railway constructed by PCRC forms part of Panama’s core logistics network, linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. APM Terminals operates 60 terminals worldwide, including 14 in the Americas. The acquisition is expected to support APMT’s goal of expanding its intermodal container services in the region, the company said. (js)
