Covid-19 threatens freight forwarders' future
The European full and part load network of international freight forwarders (Elvis) has called upon the German federal government to suspend road tolls for trucks during the corona crisis, with retroactive effect from 1 March.
In an open letter, Elvis warns of the risk that supply chains could collapse because transport companies have suffered such substantial financial losses due to the pandemic. Lifting the load on the logistics sector would ensure the supply of the population and prevent the loss of millions of jobs, the network said.
Elvis added that the immediate measures so far introduced by the federal government do not reach the logistics companies in time. (ben)
