Cosco Shipping: 2019 results meet expectations
Cosco Shipping looks back on a satisfactory performance in 2019. During the reporting year, the group handled 25.74 million teu in container shipping, +18.1% compared to 2018. Of these volumes, Cosco Shipping Lines carried 18.78 million teu, while Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (OOCL) transported 6.95 million teu.
In container shipping, the company posted growth rates of 7% in emerging countries and 7.9% in countries outside China, an increase that is substantially higher than the total growth rate of 2.7%. The share of loading volume outside China grew from 35.5% in 2018 to 37%.
By the end of 2019, the shipping company had a fleet of 87 container ships with a total capacity of more than 600,000 teu, four bulk carriers of 64.000 dwt each and a total of 80 other ships, comprising LNG vessels, heavy cargo vessels, oil tankers and other units. (mw)
