Cool robots for Kerry
The Kerry Logistics Network is making efforts to increase automation in its operations, to enhance productivity, and to this end now makes use of robotic arms in its F&B operations in Hong Kong, to boost sorting efficiency and to raise accuracy. The company has branded the robots ‘Koolbotics’.
‘Koolbotics’ can work 20-hour shifts handling frozen goods, and raise sorting productivity by 20%. The first ‘Koolbotic’ units were installed in a regional Kerry distribution centre that the firm has managed since 2011 in Hong Kong for a leading UK retailer.
As a cobot part the machines also support warehouse staff, as they can endure freezing conditions that would harm humans after prolonged exposure. Automation is an integral part of Kerry Logistics Network’s operation, especially during the pandemic, with human contact in the sorting process minimised. (sh)
