Contargo augments rail transport offer ex Basel
The trimodal transport provider, Contargo, will start operating a new Belgium – Switzerland shuttle service from 22 January 2019. Named the Antwerp TriRegio express, the train will haul containers between Antwerp and the German railway station (Badischer Bahnhof) in Basel.
The station can also handle containers destined for and from southern Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and Alsace (France) as customs clearance is unproblematic. The shuttle will run twice a week in both directions, departures are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays.
With the new offer, which complements Contargo's existing inland shipping and rail portfolio, the company will provide a rail link between Basel and the major seaports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, and Antwerp. (ben)
