Completing a Chicago cargo campus
At Chicago O’Hare, Realterm has completed its Northeast Cargo Campus. On an area of almost 84,000 sqm, the hub offers the annual capacity for over 100,000 t of cargo.
By finishing up Phase III of the campus, the developer has boosted O’Hare International Airport with 12,000 sqm of additional space, parking for 13 jumbo freighters and two aircraft parking positions to the existing cargo area. This will support the airport’s cargo operations, as it currently processes 1.9 million freight tonnes per year.
Realterm’s project is set to create 180 permanent jobs at the site as well as having supported 340 jobs during construction. 2,500 rooftop solar panels can generate ca. 1.25 million kwh per annum. It will also be the USA's first major airport facility to be built by Bowa Construction, an African-American led contractor. (mk)
