Complementing Canadian ship construction
Geodis has secured a contract to manage inbound logistics operations for Irving Shipbuilding (ISI), a Halifax-based ship construction and repair company. The agreement is part of ISI’s participation in Canada’s national shipbuilding programme.
Geodis will take over local logistics services, leveraging its network. Its local project logistics team will manage inbound shipments to ISI’s Halifax hub, which will then be supplied to three shipbuilding programmes (Canadian Surface Combatant, Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships, and Halifax Class Frigate Repair Contracts).
ISI is a core part of Canada’s shipbuilding scheme, which aims to bolster the Canadian Naval industrial base and ship fleet. The company’s expertise in shipbuilding will complement Geodis’ experience in marine and defence logistics. (mk)
