Commencing in Colombia's capital
Maersk has opened a 44,000 sqm logistics hub close to Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, seeking to expand its reach into the local market and support supply chains in the area.
The site is situated 47 km to the north of the capital city in the Tocancipa industrial zone. The property comprises 23,000 sqm storage space, a 3,378 sqm depot as well as 651 sqm designated for temperature-controlled storage. It features a depot management system and container unloading/loading and cargo handling facilities. Both empty and full containers can be stored on the site.
Maersk cites Colombia’s growing customer goods market and the strategic location in an industrial zone as reasons for this move. The company is set to expand its footprint in the country while also focusing on decarbonising its local operations. (mk)
