Combinex takeover rounds off portfolio
C.H. Robinson's European arm is taking over Combinex Holding in the Benelux region. Combinex was founded by Arie Troost in 2006 and specialises in the transport of dry, fresh and frozen goods for the pan-European market.
The freight forwarder, whose own fleet comprises around 50 Krone trailers and 50 Kögel trailers, also deploys around 150 permanent charters in addition to its own vehicles. It therefore has more than 250 trailers at its permanent disposal.
The European road haulage business is one of C.H. Robinson's prime interests, whereby it has recently relied more on organic growth than acquisitions.
The company took a creative break in 2020, and the latest takeovers in Europe occurred in March and May 2019. The first target was Space Cargo, a freight forwarding group headquartered in Madrid, with seven branches in Spain and one in Colombia. Immediately after this acquisition, C.H. Robinson snapped up Dema Service, a provider of European road haulage services founded in 2004 and headquartered in Pescara, Italy.
It is interesting to note that the American group is investing in «grown up» middle-sized companies – first in southern Europe and now in the Benelux countries. (sh)
