Combatting congestion at the Dartford Crossing
Europa Worldwide becomes one of the latest British forwarders to back the ‘Lower Thames Crossing’ campaign, in order to ease congestion at Dartford (England). 50 million vehicles currently use the Dartford Crossing annually.
Europa Worldwide experiences this first hand, as its groupage hub is located next to the crossing. The company handles more than 200 truck movements every 24 hours in and out of its facility. The proposed 23 km Lower Thames Crossing aims to relieve the roads and avoid the costs that come with congestion. An estimated GBP 200 million is lost every year in productivity due to the situation in Dartford, and traffic faced by daily commuters can take a personal toll too.
