Cold-weather e-trucking
DB Schenker’s electric trucks have demonstrated their reliability in Finland’s extreme winter conditions, as the company has reported.
Over the past year two ‘Fuso eCanter’ trucks carried out customer deliveries, proving effective even in temperatures as low as –30°C, particularly in Lapland near the Arctic Circle.
According to Tristan Keusgen, the head of European fleet management at DB Schenker, the deployment highlights the feasibility of alternative drive systems in harsh environments. “With this successful deployment of electric trucks in a region like Lapland we’ve once again proved that DB Schenker can lead the way to a sustainable future of logistics.”
The lorries primarily serve regional and local transport routes. They’re prepared for daily operations. Since 2018 DB Schenker has expanded its electric fleet in Europe; it currently operates around 50 ‘Fuso eCanter’ trucks. (js)
