Chinese masks for Berlin's hospitals
Hellmann has developed a flexible logistics concept using various modes of transport to guarantee continuous and reliable deliveries of medical products and equipment, thus making an important contribution to supplying hospitals in Berlin during the corona pandemic.
In a first phase, the medical products were flown in by air. In a second phase, the masks were transported by train via the "Iron Silk Road" from China directly to Germany, and on the last mile they were carried by truck under police protection to the hospitals.
With a transit time of around 15 days, transporting the goods by rail is slower than airfreight, but more cost-effective and ecologically sustainable, the international logistics services provider said. (ben)
